Our Minister

William “Joe” Godfrey

Bro. William “Joe” Godfrey was born in Valdosta, Georgia, to Charlie Eugene Godfrey and Vivian Godfrey. He was added to the Body of Christ at the age of eight. During his formative years, he attended the Newsome Street Church of Christ in Hahira, Georgia, where his father was the minister.

Bro. Godfrey is a graduate of Valdosta State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a major in Economics. Later, he received a Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School (formerly Thomas M. Cooley Law School) in Lansing, Michigan. He is a practicing attorney with his local law firm in Albany, GA.

He is married to Sis. Dominie Godfrey, who is also from Valdosta, Georgia and graduated from Valdosta State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Finance. She employs at F&W Forestry Services as a staff accountant.

The Godfreys are proud parents of three children (Ahrey, Cason, and Marlee).

Bro. Godfrey has been the pulpit minister at Gaines Avenue since May 2018. Under Bro. Godfrey, he also revived the young men and women bible classes and organized the Millennium ministry that has worked collectively with River Road Inc. to accommodate faith-based community activities. Under Bro. Godfrey, one elder, and two deacons were ordained.
